At the introduction of blog, I started my first blog in 2004 when I use to get new subscribers to RSS feeds and traffic coming in everyday. But the scenario is different these days.

Due to increase in competition and increased number of bloggers across the web, you can’t expect to get traffic to your blog right from the first day. Before you do expect anything from your blog there are few things that you must do.

• Write good quality content.
• Blog frequently or regularly.
• Make sure to ping the blog updates to other blog services to notify about your blog updates.
• Design you blog to search engine friendly.
• Comment on other blogs.
• Social bookmark you blog posts and participate in social networking sites.
• Participate in discussion boards.
• Become a guest blogger.
• Encourage comments, pingbacks and trackbacks to your blog.
• Promote your RSS feed on different bookmarking and RSS feed directories.
